Family Fishing Event

Hosted by: Mount Dennis Community and partnered with Toronto Urban Fishing Ambassador

  • free fishing rod, reel and tackle provided for use during event.

  • limited number of rods and reels for use for 1 hour intervals

  • no reservations

  • participants must only fish in designated areas

  • catch and release only

  • volunteers to provide guidance

Lake Aquitaine Family Fishing Day

Date/Time(s): July 6, 2025 Sunday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Lake Aquitaine, Meadowvale Community Centre 6655 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga

Join: Credit Valley Conservation and City of Mississauga for a free Family Fishing Day at Lake Aquitaine in Mississauga. Learn about Lake Aquitaine’s park amenities, natural features and stormwater management pond. Experts will be available to answer questions about fishing and conservation.

A limited number of fishing rods and tackle will be available to borrow free of charge between 10am and 1pm. During Family fishing week (June 29-July 7,2024), Canadian residence can fish in Ontario without buying a fishing licence. There is no better time to try fishing or share it with a friend or family member! Everyone is welcome!

Parking available at Meadowvale Community Center and along Montevldeo Road.

That's right! Canadian residents can fish in Ontario for free, 4 times a year. During these times you will not require a fishing licence.

These free fishing dates are as follows;


  • Family Fishing Weekend (February 15 – 17, 2025)

  • Mother’s Day Weekend (May 10 & 11, 2025)

  • Father’s Day Weekend (June 14 & 15, 2025)

  • Family Fishing Week (June 28 – July 6, 2025


Follow fishing rules

Free fishing periods remind us of the value of Ontario’s recreational fishery, and the importance of keeping it healthy for future generations. While fishing you must:

  • follow conservation licence catch limits

  • obey size limits and sanctuaries

  • follow the fishing regulations

  • carry a permit or identification card issued by the provincial or federal government, showing your name and date of birth
